The BSA role at Newland includes responsibilities ranging from supporting internal developers in the IT department to aiding the finance team with issues related to JDEdwards Enterprise One. At the time of onboarding, Newland was preparing go-live of its in-house inventory management platform. As a part of the development team, I assisted in migrating/auditing data to the new system. Once live, I wrote all documentation for its use as a user's manual and later as a collection of linked wiki articles on the company's SharePoint site. I also conducted training sessions for new users, walking them through all functionality including creating land records, recording contract information, and entering sales data.Later, I developed all mapping and automation for the company's development projects (communities). I received training in Esri's ArcGIS platform, then learned to code in ArcPy (Python for ArcGIS) in order to automate community maps with daily updates in the online portal and in monthly PDF layout maps. Online portal maps were driven by SQL data from the inventory system, with symbology generated based on data such as builder name, development status, and product type, and with annotation based on lot number, builder plan, and sales info.Other IT-related tasks:• Maintaining accurate inventory data in the SQL databases• Updating records and building stored procedures as needed by team members on the field and managers in the home office• Occasional ad-hoc reporting as needed, which I often used advanced Excel, Visual Basic, and ODBC integration for quick and accurate results• Assisted in maintenance of email campaigns and customer data from the MarketSync platformFinance-related tasks:• Support for accountants/analysts with voucher uploads, tracking variances in reporting, uploading budget templates, and general issues related to financial data integrity• Worked extensively with EOne's SQL back end data, particularly the GL and AP tables

Researched and compiled public utilities data from the CPUC (California Public Utilities Commission) and from other sources (Climate Action Plans, public statements from competing utilities, feasibility studies) in order to analyze new renewable development, economic impacts, and the power mix over time of all the major utilities in the state plus smaller municipal providers. Developed charts and graphs that were used in public releases, meetings and marketing campaigns. In this role I also drafted and edited letters to the mayor and city council of San Diego as well as state legislators, union leaders, and other influential city leaders.Reported to the VP of External Relations in Sempra Energy's public outreach entity, Sempra Services. Also worked with Sempra legal counsel and various third party public affairs firms to help develop outgoing messaging, including commercials, podcasts, and public statements to local media. Frequently attended city planning groups and Taxpayers Association meetings as a representative of Sempra and with the VP of External Relations.
