I have a passion for IT – why? I enjoy exploring the art of the possible, opening people’s eyes and minds to what is out there and how it can improve their business. So, what does that look like. I’ve put together a summary of seven areas about what I do and have done.1. End User Computing – Outsourcing models and contracts. While at Honda I transformed how IT Services were delivered, not just in the UK, but across Europe. This delivered an overall saving, but also put us under a single solution management structure.2. Service Management. Whatever I deliver must have this, otherwise you loose sight of the benefits quickly.3. IT Governance & Compliance, budgeting. ITIL implementation. The paperwork. Not everybody’s favourite, but part of what makes what I do work. I’ve implemented ITIL processes in my current role and throughout much of my IT career.4. Service design, service transition and continual service improvement. This is where the project part of me kicks in. I have delivered infrastructure programmes and projects from the ground up – from business case to racked solution, both in role as a Technical and Strategic Manager.5. IT infrastructure, cloud, software licensing and Cyber security integrity. My real passion, the key components to what I do. No matter what the strategy says these components make up the detail, albeit not all of it. 6. Development, communication and delivery of business led ICT strategies. I enjoy this part. Engaging with stakeholders, understanding what they need from IT and how it will deliver their business needs. At Honda I travelled to other Honda entities to develop a joined up strategic for changing our IT services.7. Recruitment, running and retention of large multi-disciplinary teams. One of my top priorities, I may know what to do, but these guys know how to do it. Never under estimate the importance of a good team and team work.So, there you have it, a little about me. I do like a challenge.
