Finance is just an input.My career started as a chartered accountant and saw a rise to be a partner of a mid-tier accounting firm by age 27. By 30 I was serving on two board positions at ASX listed companies. I was accepted as a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.However, it was a gap in the finance market that captured my attention and led to the start of International Acceptance.A limited choice of lenders in a niche market lead to a misalignment of interests. Lenders viewed finance as a privilege. I raised the equity, mezzanine and senior capital to create a customer focussed finance company and kick start the growth of the IA Group. Markets are forever changing. Finance moves very quickly.The IA Group via its securitisation trust is backed by a big four institutional bank and a variety of local and international investment houses.Their support has enabled the business to respond to early indicators of changes in market dynamics and ensure its growth and stability over the past twenty years. Products include Commercial, consumer, secured and unsecured facilities to customers. IA delivers industry-best performance in its sector and above-market returns to its supporters. All without fears of loss or degradation of capital invested. A rare outcome over an era that included the dotcom bust, GFC and numerous other asset bubbles. While that small synopsis of The IA Group is an accomplishment what I personally herald as my finest career achievement is that during my time at the helm of the IA Group, we have helped businesses across many sectors achieve their goals through well-resolved finance solutions. In 2021, after 21 years, I sold The IA Group to Resimac Limited (ASX:RMC) allowing me to develop further scale to this achievement, by working with a New York headquartered multi-strategy, credit-orientated investment fund, via Tremar Capital Group. The strategy is to make available growth capital to Australian businesses, provide the same empowerment and trust as I have for 21 years at IA Group, but on a larger scale, allowing well structured and managed businesses to maximise their potential.
