I’ve spent over 25 years developing natural catastrophe risk models for (re)insurers around the globe. My academic background was informed by some of the best minds in civil engineering and applied mathematics and my professional career has been enriched by working with equally talented people from a wide range of disciplines. My role is to bring the latest scientific understanding to the business decisions (re)insurers need to make about the risks they are promising to cover and, in return, focus our research towards answering the questions that make a difference.Risk Management Solutions (RMS) has shaped the world’s view of risk for over 30 years, leading the catastrophe risk industry that we helped to pioneer. We help organizations outperform and the world become more resilient by making every risk known.I’ve lived and worked in London and I enjoy meeting clients in the financial hubs of the world. Day to day I work from my home office inland from the Bay of Islands on the farm where my wife grew up. I thrive on the contrast between the week’s business conversations about 1000 year consequences to a critical portfolio and the weekend’s urgent needs to fix a water trough or mend a gate.
