Michael Thrower is the founder of Community Connect, Inc., the product of his two-fold life mission: being a business owner, and having a substantial impact on the lives of at-risk youth in his beloved Las Vegas, Nevada. A product of the Clark County School District (Las Vegas), Michael was the first in his family to graduate from college. After completing his Bachelor of Business Administration degree at the University of Hawaii (Hilo) in 1989, Michael’s life experiences began to take on a common theme: raising children. In 1992, he extended his heart and time to mentoring youth in the Las Vegas community.As the developer of the successful “Connect U!” Mentoring Program, Michael and his many volunteer mentors have worked with both the court system and private referrals to touch the lives of children whom otherwise may not have had the guidance or encouragement to complete their education, and ultimately, realize their desire to become a productive member of society.Michael is a child at heart -- and his heart runs deep for children. He believes every child is a valuable gift from God and an asset to their community; each child needs someone in their life who cares about their education, their family relationships, their life skills, and their potential for a successful future. Community engagement is a necessary component for a youth’s personal value and growth, and the community needs to see the success of their involvement in the lives of the youth in which they have invested their efforts and resources.Michael’s life experiences as a father, leader, mentor, trainer, supervisor, security officer, event organizer, and (most recently) Ordained Chaplain, have afforded him abundant contacts and resources upon which to draw while connecting the Las Vegas community to its youth … successfully raising its children.
