The process to becoming an Orientation Leader is extremely selective. Only 20 students out of more than 150 applicants are selected after going through multiple interviews. As an Orientation Leader I worked directly with a group of incoming Boise State students to make sure that their transition into Boise State went as smoothly as possible, this included traditional students, non-traditional students, and transfer students. Daily tasks included: Setting up registration and check-in stations, leading a group of students in discussions, providing an atmosphere for students to feel welcomed and comfortable, lead multiple groups of students and family members into different information sessions, assisted students in registering for their courses, and work with every other Orientation Leader to ensure that no student felt out of place or left out. During check-in I personally had a different job than all other Orientation Leaders. I was in charge of the payment station for every check-in which gave me the ability to handle money and work with programs used for card payments.

My main duty as a parcel clerk was customer service. Being the last person the customer saw, it was my goal to make sure their time at our store was a good one. Communication was also one of the key components of my job. I was the link between the various departments in the store. Some of the skills I gained and developed from this job included: Communication skills, the ability to work on a team, customer service skills, and being able to balance multiple tasks at a time.
