Lead efforts in finding new ways to use palladium-catalyzed cascade reactions to oxidize alkynes, create α-ketoesters, and create novel 5-endo-dig structures under the supervision of Dr. Yu Chen, organic chemist and professor at Queens College. Lead research efforts in substrate-scope investigations of methoxy groups in cascade reactions. Conducted literature searches and investigations on Palladium-Catalyzed Cascade reactions, Alkyne Oxidation reactions, α-Ketoester Synthesis, Green Polymer Chemistry, Photo-redox Reactions, and Iodine Catalysis. Mastered TLC analysis and advanced machinery (such as 1H NMR) to perform qualitative/quantitative analysis of products. Mastered synthesis and purification of samples using methods such as column chromatography and HPLC. Maintained and ensured laboratory safety and cleanliness by cleaning equipment and closely following laboratory guidelines.
