This is an advanced professional position of a supervisory nature in emergency social services including for Mental Health, Children & Youth, Aging, Drug and Alcohol, Developmental Programs, etc. The position involves the planning, direction, training and evaluation of five full-time Emergency Services day staff. Provided training and served in a consultative and collaborative role with individuals in the community and other professionals responding to consumers in life-crisis situations, including for mental health counseling and hospital commitments, child abuse and neglect, older adult protective services and substance abuse treatment. In addition, this position was responsible for coordinating the Emergency Services after-hours system with schedule and supervising up to fifty workers to provide 24-hour coverage for provision of services that included phone and site counseling, information and referral, mental health hospitalizations and protective services for Children and Youth and for the elderly.

This position served in and advanced professional position of a supervisory nature in child welfare. The position was involved in planning, directing, training and evaluating the work of a General Protective Services Intake unit consisting of up to five full-time social workers/caseworkers who were responsible for assessing, coordinating and providing services to children and their families to assure their safety and well being. Also coordinated and directed removal of children from their homes and placement in foster care and residential placements in collaboration with Northampton County Courts when safety could not be assured and children were determined to be at imminent risk of serious harm from neglect and/or abuse. This position also served as the Truancy Coordinator for Northampton County Children and Youth Division. This involved planning, directing, training and evaluating the work of three Truancy Specialists with the Intermediate Unit #20 who had responsibility for assess and working with children and their families experiencing chronic truancy issues. This position provided training for and coordination with eight school districts, fifteen district judges, and Northampton County Juvenile Court as well as the ongoing development and implementation of the County's truancy policies and protocols. This position was responsible for planning, directing, scheduling and evaluating the work of up to eight Social Services Aides who provided transportation for children and their families to and from appointments, supervised court-ordered visits between children and their guardians and who assisted child welfare workers with the provision of services for families. This position was also charged with maintaining, planning and coordinating the division's nine-vehicle fleet including with budgeting, purchasing new vehicles, authorizing repairs and developing policies/protocols for use of these vehicles by agency staff.
