Segway serves two primary purposes: 1) acquisition and investment support for family-office and professional investment partners, and 2) angel investing, primarily in smaller privately-held enterprises and ventures that are seeking both capital and leadership to achieve a higher level of performance in terms of sustainable sales and profits. Segway's private equity efforts are with clients and partners that have a perspective broader than financial return and a value creation strategy broader than the utilization of other people's money. Segway's angel investing efforts focus primarily upon small businesses or ventures that: a) have the potential to become much larger in terms of sales and profit, and; b) require the use and involvement of a professional management structure to reach their full sales and profit potential. On selected ventures, Segway co-invests with current business owners, private equity groups, and/or other individual accredited investors.

Mentor and evaluate candidates seeking appointment to the United States Naval Academy

Took over executive leadership and general management of PVC Compounders (owned by Group Dekko, see below) when the company was in decline. Product quality was poor, costs were uncompetitive, sales were declining, and profits were non-existent. Led the company through several strategic growth and repositioning phases by creating organizational focus upon market growth, market diversification, account diversification, operational breakthroughs, and product innovation. Strengthened and upgraded management and leadership ranks throughout the organization. Achieved sales growth, profit performance, and ROI significantly above industry norms. Grew shareholder equity at a compounded annual rate of return exceeding 26% (not including divestiture premium) over the course of 13 years. Led a team that planned, negotiated, and implemented PVCC’s divestiture, yielding an 80% premium to shareholder equity.

Served as President of three Group Dekko businesses and on Group Dekko’s Executive Leadership Team that: i) provided input and oversight to the various Dekko businesses (14+ companies, 72+ facilities, $250MM+ revenue, 2500+ employees) and, ii) served as the management committee for corporate practices, policies and collective infrastructure investments. Executive Member of subcommittees for Offshore Sourcing and Business Best Practices. Helped develop and advance supplier/customer business relationships in Canada, China, Germany, Mexico, and Taiwan.
