I was promoted into the position of General Manager in January 2019 where all previous roles and responsibilities were consolidated into this position, with the additional responsibility of People Management, POPIA/GDPR Compliance and Covid Compliance. I currently directly manage and coordinate all aspects of the business, including a team of 8 tutors, whom I must interview, onboard, assess, performance manage and offboard when required.With POPIA coming into law in South Africa in 2021, I was responsible for researching, assimilating, and training all employees on the rules and regulations of POPIA and customer privacy. I am also responsible for maintaining the franchise’s compliance regarding all elements of data privacy and customer consent.The Covid-19 pandemic brought additional responsibilities that I needed to implement and manage including performing a risk assessment, ensuring a safe environment for employees and customers, enforcing employee adherence to safety policies and protocols according to the prescribed OHSA (Occupational Health and Safety Act) and Covid-19 regulations. Notable achievements:My team and I have managed to consistently score in the top 10 branches across South Africa over the past three years.Our franchise won Franchisee of the Year in 2019 based on the criteria of sales performance and student success. I initiated and successfully grew the product offering of the Franchise by ensuring that Master Maths Midstream added Master Science to its service offering. This opened a new revenue stream for the franchise from current and new customers.

Having proved my ability to co-ordinate, communicate and manage multiple business-related responsibilities, I was promoted to Office Manager where I was assigned control of the marketing and operational activities of the business. Operational activities included resource scheduling, stock control, contract management and renewals, and IT maintenance and management.The marketing responsibilities, amongst others, included newspaper, magazine, and outdoor advertising, brochure, digital marketing placement and management, store front signage etc.Further to this, I maintained the financials of the Franchise and aided in the organisational development of the business. I am responsible for budgeting and the management of payroll PAYE, UIF, VAT and both incoming and outgoing payments.Notable achievement:My actions resulted in an increase of sales by approximately 50% that year.

As a tutor I was responsible for assisting learners of all grades with their mathematics modules and maintaining client records. Interactions with the students and their parents needs to be engaging and rewarding in order to ensure their success and their continued commitment to the franchise through contract renewals. When I was promoted to Senior Tutor of the Franchise I was tasked with onboarding, assisting, coaching, and coordinating the training and schedules of the new tutors.
