In January of 2017, I embarked upon the opportunity to enhance my career's diverse experiences by strategizing the development of a new branch of business capability with a Packaging Industry powerhouse, Rocket Industrial (fka, PTI). The primary objective of my role is to begin a functional Engineering capability in the company which includes developing the value proposition of the new business arm (both internally, and externally), organizing the company's infrastructure to be able to execute projects born from an Engineering initiative, boosting other arms of the business (machine sales & commodity sales), and, overall, enhancing our company's value, reputation, and technical ability to integrate complex systems for our customers in the greater packaging industry.

I served as a Mechanical Engineer and Product Manager for a small, yet incredibly technical company in central Wisconsin. The product is the first of its kind robotic application targeted to improve rid humans of ergonomic strain while drastically increasing production in the corrugated industry. I had the responsibility to engineer and develop new complex systems continuously giving our robotic product fresh strategic modular capabilities and systems that solved important problems.In 2016 I led the team in succeeding to grow the product line from an average of about $900k in sales/year to over $3.6 million in a $12 million company. This was achieved by developing a fine-tuned team atmosphere of some of the most talented individuals I've had the pleasure of working with. This team consisted of ME's, EE's, Mech & Elec assemblers, machinists, service techs, and even the sales people in the field rolling out our product advances to the market.As I daily worked directly in conjunction with both the Sales and Service departments, it gave me great satisfaction to have had the opportunity to give our customers top-notch products that other companies have tried to replicate, but couldn't match our market value and machine quality. In order for sales to quote a machine, they would consult with me to ensure that I was in agreement with the scope of the project and to ensure that the customer's expectations would be met in entirety. This discipline protected our margins while improved the customer experience. If there were objectives of the project that were outside our predefined modular capabilities, I would propose custom solutions with associated costs and timelines for the added complexity. There isn't one single sale that didn't require some element of custom R&D, engineering, testing and management. This product line will continue providing the industry with methods of problem-solving that are exclusive to Automatan's patented designs and team of individuals.
