I currently manage integration projects delivering solutions to ensure widely different systems communicate with each other seamlessly. Northwell Health System/Allscripts has 700+ sites and more than 66,000 employees, which makes the projects intellectually challenging, which is what I enjoy. I routinely review business requirements and interface specifications that best fit the needs of the organization. For example, although an HL7 international standard could be used for certain systems to communicate, I have often found it more advantageous to use open-technologies like JSON and REST because I have to think about the organization's future needs and want to minimize the possibility of having to "reinvent the wheel." Additional aspects of my work that I enjoy and excel at include prioritizing projects, reporting to stakeholders and senior management, and mentoring new programmers.

While employed as an Interface Analyst at Catholic Health Services of Long Island, I was primarily responsible for the interface between multiple differing systems, as well as planning for future use of their new Electronic Medical Record system, Epic. I was in charge of converting over 1.6 million historical health records from a McKesson STAR report (old EHR system) to a file format Epic would commonly understand. This required careful documentation for auditing and future revisions.As part of my role, I managed the "cut over" from McKesson STAR to Epic for five facilities with more than 18,000 users. This required leading the effort to halt data being sent, and systematically bringing the new EHR system online in a planned fashion. Afterwards, I trained users to ensure the new processes and workflow were being used correctly, and that all cut over efforts were successful.When the opportunity was available, I also wrote custom applications with J2SE (Java) to improve internal processes. As an example, to help with our on-call scheduling effort, I wrote a custom application in Java to schedule on-call shifts in a balanced way between coworkers in IT. This streamlined our shift assigning process, and raised morale in the process.

I originally started with Catholic Health Services of Long Island as a service desk analyst, which entailed front-line support for more than 18,000 users. Aside from error resolution such as password resets or windows configuration issues, this also entailed running requested database reports for users on demand.In this role, I also wrote custom applications in J2SE (Java) to help streamline workflows and processes internally. For example, I wrote a Java application to help service desk analysts gather new information from new users/employees, which would automatically populate our HEAT and Active Directory database for future tickets. This resulted in a streamlined, consistent resolution and reduced call time for all service desk representatives.
