My team works to understand the leadership capabilities we need to achieve our mission and then create the experiences and structures that will help our leaders to excel from early in their career through to the most senior levels of the organization.

My team works to ensure the Microsoft has the leaders ready today to lead the organization tomorrow by understanding what the business requires of our leaders and the capabilities required to succeed in an increasingly complex and fast-moving world. This requires our leaders to be able to bring both the business and cultural acumen to achieve Microsoft’s mission.

There were two elements of my role, one was supporting digitalization across Shell transforming the capability of 93,000 staff to the take advantage of the opportunities from digital technologies, data and new ways of working. The second element was for IT and Finance. I led a fantastic team responsible for helping the 17,000 IT and Finance staff at Shell develop their individual and teams technical and behavioural capabilities to deliver exceptional results for themselves and the organisation. Working globally, partnering with the business and HR colleagues to identify and then meet the capability needs of our staff, including professional accreditation. Design and implement solutions at the individual, team and community level from gaining knowledge to practically applying this in their roles to meet personal aspirations and deliver value for Shell. With responsibility for knowledge management we are constantly looking to help people learn from each other and build strong effective networks where constant personal development is possible and valued.

Improving performance across the functions of Shell through change management, organisation development and team development. This ranged from leading global change initiatives to coaching senior leaders.

Management of large scale transformation projects for organizations across government, financial services and energy.

While at KPMG I was seconded into the Financial Services Authority to support the separation of the UK's financial regulation IT and data systems to the newly created Prudential Regulatory Authority and the Financial Conduct Authority.

Successfully developed project management peer reviews as a new service for Local Authorities, reviewing and providing support for large projects and programmes (£5m-£500m) through their lifecycle. Responsibilities included managing relationships with Central Government Departments, developing best practice in project management and procurement and providing training in project management and procurement.
