Associate Scientist Ii
Assisting the Applied Genomics & Sequencing (AGS) Group with the development and implementation of comparator tests to be run alongside novel molecular diagnostic assays during pre-market clinical trials. Day-to-day, this involves designing and performing nucleic acid-based experiments (DNA/RNA extraction of clinical samples, standard PCR, digital droplet PCR, and Sanger sequencing) as well as conducting downstream data analysis. Other responsibilities include experimental troubleshooting, instrument maintenance and designing molecular primers targetting various human pathogens.
Research Assistant - Department Of Molecular Genetics
Initially responsible for the routine genotyping of transgenic mouse lines used primarily as models for gonococcal and meningococcal infections. Undergraduate thesis project and later work involved the genetic characterisation of an adherent and invasive Escherichia coli (AIEC) pathotype associated with Inflammatory Bowel Diseases. Overall work amounted to a first-author publication.
