Vice President Of Communications And Organizational Development
CurrentAt Eden Housing, I'm playing a mix of strategist, director, and master communicator. While I’m deeply involved in shaping the strategies that ensure our talent shines bright and building pipelines robust enough to fuel our organization's growth, I'm equally passionate about our communication ethos. This isn't just about bridging departments; it's about weaving stories that resonate both internally and externally. Promoting Eden Housing's brand with partners and communities is much like promoting a blockbuster movie: you need the right script, the right channels, and of course, an audience that's eager to listen. Speaking of movies, I've taken a thrilling detour into the world of film at Eden—producing, directing, and storyboarding our video series. Whether it's penning the copy or directing videos like our 55th anniversary series, it's all in a day's work. And, while I'm juggling these roles, I'm also managing our corporate events and ensuring our executives have just the right words to inspire. All this, while leading some of the most brilliant minds in the Communications and Organizational Development sectors. And I am still having fun!
Vice President Of Organizational Development And Internal Communications
At Eden Housing, I wear a plethora of hats. My days revolve around understanding the heartbeat of our human capital, delving into market trends, and shaping the narrative of our brand. After all, it's our people who transform Eden Housing into the dynamo of innovation it is today.Guiding the executive team on how to weave messages that resonate is a significant part of my expanded role. While I orchestrate internal staff communications, I'm also behind talent and organizational development. When I'm not serving as the communications confidante to our executive mavens and senior trailblazers, I'm busy devising strategies. The goal? To empower our human capital with the tools and training they need to propel Eden Housing's growth. My work canvas is vast, stretching from crafting a robust internal communications strategy that weaves through every department, to syncing people-centric activity with our current and future strategic plan. I ensure that performance management, succession planning, employee engagement, and compliance are in harmony, and the melody of retention and morale programs are pitch-perfect. Connecting the dots between external marketing and internal communication is my forte, while also participating into the emergency planning committee. I'm also at the helm of directing the apprenticeship program.Fun? Oh yeah!
Director Of Talent And Organizational Development
Growing pains come along with organizational growth. What are leading companies doing to help people transition through change? How do you maintain a passionate workforce when the future is sometimes unknown? How do you align KPIs with just-in-time OTJ learning and resources? How do you identify talent before change happens, so that you have the right person in the right position at the right time? These are some of the exciting challenges I face in this role at Eden Housing.I play a leading role in developing Eden Housing’s employee development programs, helping new associates establish, measure, and plan their career. In this expanded role, I work to execute strategies to ensure the development of Eden Housing talent and build pipelines to support the growth of the organization. I focus on aligning people strategies and programs to current and future business needs in areas such as performance management, leadership/high potential staff development, retention, and morale programs. And you know what? I still have so much fun it’s hardly fair!
Associate Director Of Talent Development
People want more than "a job". Work should be fun and fulfilling. It should provide the opportunity for advancement. My passion is building cultures of appreciation, inclusion and innovation. My first role at Eden Housing was as a Property Supervisor. In 2008, I was promoted to Associate Director of Property Operations, focusing on the financial performance of over 129 properties. Our company had two large growth spurts during my tenure. The need was clear: a leading-edge department to help harness and focus the diverse talents of our 350+ employees. In 2015, I led the launch of Eden U. (Eden Housing University) Eden U is a comprehensive training program that improves organizational individual performance and productivity with an emphasis on 1) building the knowledge and confidence of our adult learners and 2) delivering learning that helps the company achieve its strategic goals in measurable ways (ROI). Fluent in both the ADDIE and SAM instructional design methods, I have designed and delivered blended learning strategies that include instructor-led courses, eLearning, webinars, and events for upwards of 900 learners. Gamification always included!Trusting models like Bloom's Taxonomy and the Kirkpatrick method, we achieved higher than industry average engagement rates. 99% of our employees engage in a designed learning event on an average of 13.4 times per month (as of Jan. 31, 2018). I am well-versed in survey design and pre- and post-assessments that prove the short and long-term value of learning events. I know how to present data to C-Suite in a way that is clear, meaningful, and actionable. I am a national speaker/trainer and consultant on leadership development, customer service, time/project management, coaching, public speaking, conflict management, integration & diversity, talent/development, and recognition program implementation. I build creative ways to deliver company initiatives that engage talent at all levels.

Picture it: New York. 2003. A young geek, Michael Dismuke, arrives in the Big Apple. Unbelievably, I had scored a meeting with Bill Jemas, then editor-in-chief of Marvel Comics. The idea: to write a comic starring Justin Timberlake as a super hero. The idea never took off. Not enough money in it. The only thing I got was the following advice from Bill: “You need to make your own name. Write something other than Marvel. Sell 50,000 units of a comic of your own creation.” I left the office depressed. I thought that was my only chance to become a comic writer. Dream dead. Or so I thought…Fast forward: San Diego Comic Con. 2007. One random synapse in my brain overheated, popped, and generated an amazing idea--ROSHAMBO!Transport to San Francisco. APE convention. 2011. The convention’s organizers had arranged what amounted to a speed-dating session. I met over twenty artists. And then I met the miracle that brought the comic alive in all it’s wonderful splendor—artist Susan Cheng Tsui. A new intellectual property was created.
