• Currently oversees all legal matters related to Avangrid’s offshore wind portfolio, which includes the development and construction of the Vineyard Wind 1 (800 MW), Park City Wind (800 MW), Commonwealth Wind (1200 MW) and Kitty Hawk Wind (3500+ MW) projects.• Advises Avangrid’s CEO, General Counsel and offshore leadership team regarding legal risks and strategy.• Regularly represents the offshore business in negotiation of complex commercial transactions, including strategic partnerships and M&A transactions, financings, procurement and construction contracts, power purchase agreements, and interconnection and transmission matters.• Supervises external counsel providing support for offshore matters.• Prior to overseeing offshore legal matters, worked as a member of Avangrid’s approximately 10-person legal team supporting the onshore wind and solar business, with a focus on financing, construction and procurement, M&A transactions, and operations and asset management. • Supports Avangrid’s General Counsel in tracking and implementing governance matters.• Supervises and resolves disputes and occasional litigation matters.• Avangrid Renewables is an independent power producer which owns and operates over 8,000 MW of wind and solar generation assets in 22 states. Avangrid Renewables is owned by Avangrid Inc., a U.S. publicly traded company, which in turn is majority owned by Iberdrola, S.A., a Spanish utility and the world’s largest generator of wind power.

Practiced as a member of the Energy, Infrastructure and Project Finance team and Real Estate practice group in Los Angeles.  Primarily represented clients engaged in the acquisition, sale, development and financing of solar, wind and other energy assets.

Represented companies engaged in the development, construction, financing, acquisition and disposition of solar, wind and other alternative energy projects. Michael was previously a member of Chadbourne's bankruptcy and restructuring practice in New York, primarily representing secured and unsecured creditors.

Interned with the Environmental Enforcement Section and assisted with the DOJ’s Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and CERCLA enforcement for EPA Regions 7 and 10.

Provided legal support for NWF's nationwide operations on a variety of matters. Responsibilities included analyzing 501(c)(3) tax issues, providing legal advice with respect to fundraising and campaign-related activities, drafting and reviewing contracts, policing intellectual property, and attending to the many special projects characteristic of a general counsel’s office.
