Currently the Logistics Section Chief (Supply Managment Officer) for the Alaska-1 Disaster Medical Assistance Team (AK-1 DMAT), an intermittent federal position that is activated in the event of state, regional, or national disasters. Recently deployed twice to Puerto Rico for the hurricanes Irma and Maria. I've been with the DMAT team since August 2000. I also occasionally work with The State of Alaska DHSS as shelter specialist for state disaster exercises using Wester Shelter systems. The DMATs are now involved in supporting medical facilities with Covid 19 inoculation sites, infusion sites, and regional hospital and emergency room decompression missions.
