As Quality Assurance Manager I am responsible for the accuracy of all laboratory results both from the Hallmarking and Analytical Services sections. This can be in excess of 1500 results per day.Responsible for all aspects of UKAS accreditation and auditing.As Chief Chemist responsible for all analytical method development and ensuring they meet UKAS standards.

Worked in the analytical department using both classical chemical and modern instrumental methods of analysis. Samples analysed covered all aspects of metallurgy, ceramics, refractories and glasses as well as biological.Responsible for: The MOD later NAMAS accreditation of all chemical methods of analysis.Developed routine methods for analysis of metals by atomic absorption using one of the earliest available commercial instruments.Development and teaching of atomic absorption methods for student projects.Helped to set up one of the first atomic absorption laboratories in a hospital to look at trace elements in blood.All aspects of X-Ray diffraction and X-Ray fluorescence.Space allocation and budget spending for all of the laboratories in the department.Setting up the original PC laboratory in the department.Developed computer programs for a variety of data capture applications.Final two years worked as Chief Technician with a staff of five responsible for all aspects of laboratories on seven floors including Health and Safety.
