Known both within the firm and by his clients as "The Professor," Michael Dore has been advising corporate clients in complex mass tort, environmental and insurance matters for two decades. Mike's rare combination of academic and practical experience allows him to serve clients with a unique perspective on the issues they face. Mike has taught classes in both Environmental Law and Mass Torts since 1984 as an Adjunct Professor at Rutgers Law School and is an elected member of the American Law Institute. His treatise on Mass Torts, the five-volume Law of Toxic Torts: Litigation, Defense, Insurance (Thomson Reuters/West 2013), and his numerous law review articles on expert evidence and other litigation topics have been cited by courts throughout the United States and relied on in the Federal Judicial Center's Reference Manual on Scientific Evidence. Mike served as trial counsel for Napp Chemical Company following a plant explosion that resulted in five worker deaths and all but closed the city of Lodi, New Jersey. He also served as lead defense counsel in criminal and administrative proceedings involving industrial emissions that resulted in the hospitalization of more than 50 middle school students. In addition, he has defended personal injury and property damage claims brought against Bristol-Myers Squibb by more than 150 neighbors of the company's New Brunswick, New Jersey, manufacturing facility. Indeed, his extensive and influential writing about New Jersey's Mass Tort Coordination procedures has led to his participation in numerous "Multi-County Litigation" matters involving both pharmaceutical products and environmental claims.
