Coming from several years in the entertainment industry (music and filmmaking), I bring a flare to software development. Most find it hard to combine the two, but with the advent of social media it's become a necessity. I have an eye for the visual and user experience when writing clean, well-documented code.After creating my first company, Who's Next LLC, I quickly discovered just how important web development is and why it's crucial to one's career. Any artist attempting to share his or her talent to the world needs some sort of platform to showcase that talent. Being unsigned myself, I had many ideas on what could be best used to help myself along with countless others on the same journey. But the idea was just that. It wasn't until I tried my hand at building a website that I learned it's far more than just a click here and drag-n-drop there. Further, I painfully learned the difference between someone claiming to be a developer than someone who actually knows their stuff. Rather than continuing to spend thousands of dollars on something that never came out the way I wanted, I took to learning to code myself. Off and on for a few years it was getting tedious. I was spinning my wheels, not truly understanding what I was learning. I tried my hand in a few Computer Science classes, but the instructors were drier than the hair on a camel's back. It wasn't until (here comes my favorite saying) I was "tired of being tired" that I decided to make the move to learn to code, finding Actualize. I started learning Ruby, Rails, C++, C#, JavaScript, Vue.js, SQL, and Postgres. Software dev, I would say, isn't for the faint at heart. It can be challenging, however, if you're up for the challenge it IS a very rewarding career path which can incorporate into just about any industry. I'm currently looking out for my next adventure with a company as a full-time developer.
