The overall scope includes: 18 individual hotels, airport, marina works, roads/bridges, support utility infrastructure, Construction/Operational offices, a staff/visitor’s hotel and accommodations to temporarily house over ten thousand trade workers. From a functional perspective, the Senior Project Director (Sr. PD) is fully responsible for the delivery of their assigned assets. I led the management of the project team and support contractors, with a staff in excess of 100 direct reports, plus teams of indirect support staff. Program 01, Southern Dunes Resort – A 65-key villa resort and the recipient of the prestigious MENH, Hotel of the Year Award, Southern Dunes was the first resort.of the Master Plan, to be successfully handed over for commercial operations in 2023. The aggressive schedule and remote location of this site and Desert Rock, required the temporary construction of a trade labor camp. Program 01, Desert Rock Resort – A 60-key villa resort, anticipated delivery, 2025. Partly constructed in the faces of large granite rock massif. Specialized blasting work was required for nearly all the work within the rock. Desert Rock represents some of the most technically challenging construction in the overall Master Plan. Program 01, Project Horticulture Nursery – As the first substantial structure of the Master Plan to be completed. The Nursery was ready for operational turn-over Q1 2020, When completed, it was the largest Nursery in the country, covering one-square kilometer. Program 01, Thuwal Island Private Resort Residence – This high-profile build was added to the overall program master plan in 2022 as a “special project”. The project is situated on a small, private island, 13 km from KAUST. The scope included a multiple structure, private resort facility. -
