For three years I was the instructor of Intermediate and College Algebra courses at the Rapid City NAU campus. In 2010 I was asked to extend my duties to the Ellsworth NAU campus teaching the same courses. In the summer of 2011 I worked with students and staff at the Rapid City campus to hold an accelerated course in Astronomy. For four years I was involved in the planning, scheduling and instruction of numerous science outreach programs in the Rapid City area, focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics or STEM fields. These outreach activities were focused on grade school students ( grades 6-12). During the summer camps I acted as a Night Chaperone and Instructor. During my final year with the program I had the opportunity to write and submit a grant proposal to NASA for a new space-related youth-summer camp. Our grant proposal was selected from a group of over 40 universities from across the nation. SDSM&T was awarded $50,000 by NASA to plan and host this new summer camp. In addition to writing the grant my responsibilities also covered planning and scheduling for three separate camps. Space Adventures, Super Science Camp and the NASA sponsored, SOLAR (Space Observation Learning and Research)Duties include: Grant writing & Fundraising, Topic Selection & Planning, Coordinating with campus faculty & staff, Teaching Outreach Program Topics (Instructor), Course Preparation, Camp Scheduling, and Chaperoning students during nights and field trips.
