Part-time Instructor, 2005 to 2012Full-time instructor, beginning AUG 2012Full time Lecturer, beginning AUG 2017: my duties include teaching course work that includes lecturing in Calculus and non-Calculus based Introductory Physics, including Kinematics, Vector Analysis, Electromagnetism & Astronomy. I also supervise all introductory physics laboratory coursework and recitations. During any given semester I am responsible for up to 500 students in my various courses and labs. In addition, I oversee all graduate teaching assistants in their duties to help in supporting the needs of undergraduate students on campus, including tutoring services. I also serve as a committee member for Masters/PhD candidate defense.I lead department recruitment and retention efforts to increase the number of students majoring in physics and remaining in the program.I serve as Advisor to the campus chapter of the Society of Physics Students (SPS). Duties include: Course Preparation, Conducting Lectures, Lab Setup, Tutoring, Scheduled field trips,Grading & Grade management for all courses. Teaching Lab management. For three years I was the instructor of Intermediate and College Algebra courses at the Rapid City NAU campus. In 2010 I was asked to extend my duties to the Ellsworth NAU campus teaching the same courses. For four years I was involved in the planning, scheduling and instruction of numerous science outreach programs in the Rapid City area, focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics or STEM fields. These outreach activities were focused on grade school students ( grades 6-12). During the summer camps I acted as a Night Chaperone and Instructor. During my final year with the program I had the opportunity to write and submit a grant proposal to NASA for a new space-related youth-summer camp. Our grant proposal was selected from a group of over 40 universities from across the nation. SDSM&T was awarded $50,000 by NASA to plan and host this new summer camp. In addition to writing the grant my responsibilities also covered planning and scheduling for three separate camps. Space Adventures, Super Science Camp and the NASA sponsored, SOLAR (Space Observation Learning and Research)Duties include: Grant writing & Fundraising, Topic Selection & Planning, Coordinating with campus faculty & staff, Teaching Outreach Program Topics (Instructor), Course Preparation, Camp Scheduling, and Chaperoning students during nights and field trips.
