Michael Drews is the Vice President for GSA and NC3 Advanced Capabilities & Mission Strategy. He leads a portfolio of organizations developing Global Situational Awareness (GSA) flight and ground systems for ISR and OPIR missions, as well as all-domain, ultra-assured C3 solutions. He also serves as the Lockheed Martin Corporate Executive for NC3 System of Systems. Previously, he was the LM Space Enterprise Chief Engineer, where he led the technical excellence for over 12,000 engineers across multiple Spacecraft and Missile mission areas. He’s an executive leader with over 32 years of system development experience on DoD, Classified and NASA programs. Before joining LM in 2000, he began his career at NASA Ames Research Center, and worked in two other companies in Silicon Valley in the 1990s, one of which he co-founded. He’s the passionate innovator of a multi-generational STEM event called STEMScape, for which he won the 2021 AAS Sally Ride Excellence in Education Award. He was also awarded the 2018 AIAA Rocky Mountain Chapter Engineer of the Year and has been active contributor/chapter officer for AAS, AIAA and IEEE. In 2022, he began serving on the University of Colorado Smead Aerospace Engineering External Advisory Board. He holds an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Santa Clara University and a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Colorado.
