I had overall responsibility for the firm’s marketing strategies, marketing plans and communications. This includes publicity, public relations, advertising, trade show exhibits, RFP responses, outreach and liaison with business and industry associations and with associations connected with the legal community. I worked one-on-one with partners and their respective practice groups to teach them how to market themselves, grow their existing practice and attract new clients. I also had responsibility for development and management of budgets and expenditures for all marketing activities. Key Accomplishments: Revised, updated and re-launched the firm’s web site to include modern design and architecture with the capability to update information in real time. Over a 12-month period we achieved and publicized more than 120 separate promotional activities in business publications, law journals, corporate counsel publications and mainstream print media.

SSS&G is a 64-lawyer, full-service firm with offices in Newark, New Jersey and New York City. I was responsible for all of the firm’s marketing plans, sales promotion and communications. Additionally, I worked with individual partners on personal marketing action plans and with practice groups in segmenting and targeting potential clients. I supervised the redesign of the firm’s logo, web site and other promotional materials. Through the judicious use of marketing funds, I successfully generated a constant stream of promotional and publicity opportunities to such an extent that that the firm’s name recognition and top-of-mind awareness exceed the levels of much larger firms that have commensurately larger marketing budgets. Key Accomplishments: Coordinated production of a quarterly IP/Tech newsletter. Planned and executed programs with American Corporate Counsel Association (ACCA) chapters in major U.S. markets which resulted in the acquisition of 12 new technology clients over 18 months. Successfully established and presented an Annual E-Commerce and Technology Update in New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts and the District of Columbia. Arranged interviews and article placements for the firm’s partners, including the January 2000 end-of-millennium roundtable in New Jersey Lawyer newspaper. During March, April and May of 2001, our attorneys appeared in person in front of 405 in-house counsel at six major events. During the 12-month period June 1, 2000 to May 30, 2001, 67 press placements were achieved for the firm and its attorneys for an average of six press placements per month.
