Michael E.S. Smith has long been a fan of the arts. And it was this love that gave him the determination to start a career as an amature actor in his first high school play. He played duel roles as Kolenkof, a spunky Russian ballet dance teacher and an over zealous tax collector named henderson in "You can't take it with you!" Michael then started acting more and more for his hometown theatre guild in Atlantic City. This up and coming artist soon moved up the ranks. By establishing this small foundation and preparing for another oppurtunity, Michael was given the chance to start as a late addition to an origonal play created to deter families from a life of drug abuse. In "Mom, wake up!" Michael played the role of Curtis the town mennace and quickly moved to the lead male role of Jorvon, an inner city youth bent on protecting his life as well as his younger siblings from a life of crime and cocaine abuse. He then had the privelage to play in a very special production written by August Wilson. It was these cycle plays that gave him the "swaggar" he has developed to perform at such a high level. He played Cuttler, a street savy jazz player in "Ma Rainy's black bottom". He also played the role of Jeremey, a guitar player with ambitions of finding himself a lady friend at a young age. Michael then found the oppurtunity to star in his first motion picture "Life in the City: Atlantic City pt. 2. Sonnie was the charactor this time around and trafficing drugs was his plight from the capitol of crime, New York City. Short of his acting career Michael likes to spend time studying his craft as well as raising his son. Family life has always been apart of his everyday routine and hopes his hard work will effect it and his community.
