My over 25 years of litigation practice has primarily been focused on the defense of companies in employment-related litigation. I work closely with employers to advise them on employment issues and draft policies and procedures to minimize legal risk, address workplace challenges, and maximize employee relations, all with the goal to improve a business’s bottom line. I focus on identifying and assessing risk to provide accurate, practical options to employment problems. I enjoy and appreciate the opportunity to collaborate with clients on finding solutions to employment-related issues that best meet their needs and either avoid the possibility of litigation or present the best defense when litigation is necessary. When necessary, I have extensive experience defending employment-related claims in both federal and state courts and before administrative agencies throughout Alabama and other locations outside of the state for Alabama-based clients. As part of my employment practice, I also have considerable experience with non-compete agreements and other restrictive covenants, as well as routine defense of workers' compensation claims, including retaliatory discharge claims.My practice is not limited to employment law, as I also represent clients in general business-related litigation and personal injury litigation. I also have represented national banks and mortgage/auto loan servicers in litigation matters related to consumer loans throughout the State of Alabama. My personal injury practice has also included the defense of clients in toxic tort litigation (including asbestos and talc), many with numerous plaintiffs.
