I joined greentec-services gmbh, a Switzerland and Austria-based company that provides technical management and maintenance services for renewable energy systems across Europe, back when it was a small two-person business. I was able to put my knowledge in PV, SCADA systems, and computer science to good use by implementing a professional monitoring environment that enabled the company to scale across Europe, servicing more than 150 commercial and utility-scale PV projects.It was during this time that my now co-founder, Ralf Tschaun and I got to see firsthand the amount of energy being lost at PV plants due to inefficiencies. This is when I started looking into how to make the monitoring of PV systems more efficient.What started as simple optimizations soon turned into basic fault detection algorithms. And as our algorithms continued to improve, we kept setting our sights higher and higher.
