Later assignments included three years as the Sydney News Bureau Chief and three years as the Canberra Bureau Chief.In mid-1990 the paper closed its news bureaus and I was reassigned to the Perth newsroom as acting chief of staff and as a senior reporter until the closure of the newspaper in September 1990. I was then recruited to join Channel Ten Perth as an on-camera reporter.
