Working as a Business Analyst on a SharePoint upgrade and migration project, my role was to spec out and analyse the scope and requirements for the project and to lead the creation of a document management structure and various sites and consolidation features on the new platform. As well as this I supplied support and training to employees to resolve problems and empower people to use and create various elements in SharePoint efficiently. Migrating data from the web, SharePoint 2003 and network file servers I was working initially with SharePoint 2010 and then SharePoint 2013 after the upgrade and used SharePoint Designer heavily as a tool to aid the site's development.

Working part time, duties and responsibilities included general IT Support, setting up a stable and secure wireless network, server administration, managing and carrying out the PC upgrade project, creating and amending SQL Server Management Studio reports and some work with Microsoft Dynamics AX.

I undertook a work placement during the 3rd year of my university course, working at GlaxoSmithKline in Brentford, West London as a Business Analyst. During my time there I had roles in multiple projects, liaising with the customers and vendors and developers, I took a lead role in managing testing for a project which I was heavily involved in, as well as completing a lot of documentation work, including business requirements analysis and testing documents. I took the lead role in a project to implement a translation tool for one of our internal customers, undertaking requirements analysis, choosing the vendor, doing full software testing to check the fit with the requirements and user acceptance testing to finally delivering the project.

I took a gap year after college before going to university to try and gain some industry relevant experience and prepare myself for university, as well as trying to get myself a taste of the routine and general day to day activities as part of a full time job. My role was as a Business Analyst, and I was required to do a range of things from project delivery, analysis, reporting and support and maintenance of systems.
