Responsible for starting the Strategic Sourcing group that has produced significant cost savings and provided more revenue from projects that would have otherwise been lost to competition or cycle. Created a database of fabrication options along with grading and comments for each fabricator in every region of the world.

Global Subcontract Fabrications and contract negotiations

Directed the sourcing, negotiation, certification and operations management of fabrication shops throughout the world for the manufacture of gas turbines and related equipment. Managed a portfolio of 30 fabricators 10 of which were active at any give time. Implemented numerous program and system/process changes that contributed directly to significantly to improved performance and incremental capacity.Created a planning model in Access that accurately tracked manpower capacity of 5 primary metal fabrication shops worldwide. The tool was recognized by CFO as single most important production management /new business development tool in the organization. It was also the key instrument in securing and delivering on- time $35 million of incremental business from a single customer in 2008.Assigned management oversight for fabrications operations at a wholly owned subsidiary in Shanghai. Redefined Operations Manager role, implemented new approval levels for expenses and other costs and realigned production resources to eliminated redundancy. Efforts reduced operational costs by10% and eliminated numerous alarming audit comments/findings.Located potential new fabrication shops for work in China, Mexico and other locations throughout the world. In each case, created a strategic plan, negotiated contracts, developed performance metrics, trained personnel and sold customers on the new facilities. As a result capacity in China alone has increased 110%, representing a $70 million increase in revenue potential. Similar results were obtained in every case.Suspected a problem, analyzed actual project cost history and discovered weights and therefore costs were consistently over stated. Trimmed weight matrices used in quoting and reduced average quote by 10%-15%, thereby reducing project cost and capturing $6 million in incremental revenue over the next 2 years.

August 2004 - January 2007Full P&L responsibility for gas turbine construction and retrofit projects through out the world. Managed a portfolio of over $20 million of equipment (annually). Responsible for directing all activity from project conception through delivery and field warranty support. As primary contact person for customer issues/change orders, successfully managed simultaneous engineering projects in Asia, Mexico and Europe.Recognized the need and took initiative to assist struggling ERP implementation team. Changed/modified structure of projects, created templates so that software would accept production data and worked closely with software firm incorporating necessary additions. Efforts insured success of $2million investment and guaranteed that production planning elements of program worked successfully.Responded to a customer need and managed a review of a large construction project in the middle east. Worked closely with customer resolving cost responsibility issues. Efforts turned a potential $400,000 potential back charge situation into over $200,000 in incremental revenue with very attractive margins and maintained positive relations with the client.Developed and wrote a detailed Fabricator Qualification Program. Program included initial site inspection, environmental and facility reviews to EPA and OSHA standards and customer audits. Process was applied twice in China and Mexico and once in Poland and potential fabricators passed final customer audit in every case.Personally restored relations and negotiated a favorable settlement with an extremely unhappy global fabricator who was refusing to release and/or accept any orders. Resolved all issues and recovered an additional $10,000 in back charges.

Championed the successful establishment of 2 Chinese fabrication shops for production of Frame Size 9F gas turbine and exhaust enclosures.Implemented over $750,000 in cost savings projects.Developed a Microsoft Access Database to track and trend fabricator performance and quality. Tool contributed to improved performance/quality bye while improving ability to tracking root cause/preventative action measures.

Developed and implemented a Non-conformance Tracking Procedure that was instrumental in passing an ISO 9001 audit with zero findings.Served as main contact for all Quality concerns and acted as a liaison between manufacturing and engineering groups.
