In November 2019 I made a transition from Sales back into the science sector working on Clara's Biotech's Exosome Isolation Platform (ExoSS). The product knowledge I was able to amass from my experience selling in the field combined with my Molecular Biology background and Research experience served me well as I was tasked with overseeing many operational aspects of the laboratory. Some of my primary experience includes the following: - Research and development of Clara’s novel exosome isolation platform. - Creation of SOP’s for industry lab processes (shipping, receiving, quality, etc.). - Laboratory oversight and implementation of inventory management systems (part numbers, lot numbers, etc.)

I was first offered this position after completing my freshman year. My instructor offered me a work-study position as a teaching assistant. Throughout the first semester of my sophomore year, I gave 2 hour review sessions before every test, where I would cover important concepts on the marker board and answer questions. I was offered this position again the following fall of my Junior year. Additionally, during the fall of my junior year I also worked as a laboratory assistant, where I helped students with laboratory practices and techniques, prepared solutions, managed assays, calculations, etc.

This was an Internship within the Pharmacology and Toxicology department at University of Kansas Medical Center. I enjoyed my experience in the lab the previous summer, so I took a position in Hartmut Jaeschke's Lab for the summer of 2016. The primary focus of our research was to elucidate mechanisms of inflammatory liver injury and drug induced hepatoxicity, specifically in regard to acetaminophen (APAP) overdose. My laboratory responsibilities included: mouse dissections, mitochondria isolation from various tissues, BCA assays, APAP-protein adduct isolation from various tissues, and APAP-protein adduct analysis using high pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC.)

This was an Internship within the Pharmacology and Toxicology department at University of Kansas Medical Center funded by the American Society of Pharmacology and Toxicology. I was given in a position in Tiangang Li's Lab. The primary focus of our research was to elucidate the role of the protein sortilin1 (sort1) in triacylglyceride and cholesterol metabolism. Various methods were used throughout my time in the lab to look at sort1 levels in mouse models of hepatic steatosis, diabetes, and obesity. My main responsibilities in the lab were to genotype transgenic mice, run western blots from tissue samples, some histology work, and also some cell culture work (hepatocytes).

I have been involved in watersports since I was a child. KC Watersports is considered a cable park, which is a small lake containing a five tower system with a moving steel cable to which ropes and handles are attached. Skiers and wakeboarders can use the cable to be towed around the lake, and hit various structures (ramps, rails, etc.) I live close by and have been going to KCW for a long time. I was hired on the team for the 2014 season. As a camp instructor/cable operator my main responsibilities were to safely teach kids the fundamentals of wake boarding, operate and maintain the cable systems, and to sell merchandise in the pro-shop.
