I create billion-dollar brands. It starts with a compelling vision and innovative tech. Then, I build passionate teams that breathe life into them in ways that make customers, investors and employees take notice. 100%+ year-over-year ARR growth is one measure of success. Equally important to me, though, is the personal growth that folks on my teams achieve and the space I create for customers by introducing them to new ways to solve their problems.Recent accomplishments include leading Mandiant from a niche brand whose name was only whispered in private to one of the 10 best-known brands in security (long after FireEye’s acquired it for $1 billion). More recently, I led Expel from an idea (and $0 ARR) to repeated 100% year-over-year ARR growth and the #1 MDR vendor in the inaugural Forrester Wave.I believe metrics matter. And it matters what you measure. Real magic happens where the “art” and “science” of marketing meet. You’ve got to have the goods (solid tech, people and a demand engine that can roar). But buyers are busy. For your engine to hum you need to understand why your buyers buy and craft sharp messaging and a strategy to creatively connect to buyers’ problems. It sounds easy. It’s not.Outside of work I’m an amateur photographer, a decent cook and I enjoy taking advantage of everything the Washington DC area has to offer (from museums … to mountains) with my two daughters. Some of the things I'm good at include...-- Building and scaling marketing teams for high-growth SaaS companies-- Defining visions that inspire employees and customers-- Connecting demand generation engines to buyers and markets-- Category design and creation (aka “owning an acronym”)-- Strategic planning and development of new markets-- Creating differentiated product positioning and messaging-- Fundraising, investor pitches, M&A evaluation and integration-- Media relations with tier-1 TV, print and radio-- International expansion and managing worldwide marketing teams-- Investor relations and messaging for public companies
