Senior Cytogenetics Technologist
• Worked as lead technologist, overseeing small groups for the development, validation and implementation of various molecular genetic assays within a CAP/CLIA certified lab and generation of necessary documentation, including validation reports and standard operating procedures, in accordance with CAP/CLIA guidelines.• Design of workflows for clinical operations and the coordination and maintenance of laboratory's molecular QA/QC data with the purpose of increasing efficiency while preserving an exceptional, patient-centered, clinical service.• Comprehensive knowledge of molecular, cytogenetic and general laboratory protocols used in constitutional- and cancer-related genetic testing as well as analysis and interpretation of assay results, including chromosome analysis, FISH, chromosomal microarray analysis (CMA) and next-generation sequencing (NGS). • Familiarity with a wide range of software, scripting languages and databases used during variant classification and interpretation of NGS and CMA results.• Collaborating with PIs, inside and outside the university, on numerous research projects; assisting in gathering data, performing analysis, interpreting results and generation of manuscripts for publication.• Training and teaching of the items mentioned above for staff, faculty and visitors to the lab.
