Auxiliary Officer
Current-Perform patrols of the village streets, parks, and businesses, effectively acting as a crime deterrent. -Enforce village parking ordinances through writing citations.-Dispatched to investigate calls such as parking complaints, animal complaints, check conditions, and welfare checks.-Assist full-time police officers as a back-up unit on a variety of events such as traffic stops and domestic disturbances. -Assist fire department and emergency medical services on calls to provided traffic control or any other assistance they may need. -Provide security for special events of the village.-Monitor prisoners in custody and log their movements and behavior. -Assist individuals in filing police reports and call in reports to dispatch so that an officer can be assigned to the report.-Answer station main phone line and transfer callers to dispatch if they request police, fire, or emergency medical services response, or answer any questions they may have.-Operate station radio by providing information to assist officers and dispatchers. -Confirm warrants with other departments and agencies.-Monitor station and village security cameras and report any suspicious activity or incidents to dispatch.-Retrieve information from LEADS and NCIC to assist officers on their investigations
