Michael commenced his career with KPMG in 1976 as an undergraduate in the Private Business Services division. He completed his degree and then his professional year with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in 1982. Michael was appointed as a manager with KPMG in 1984. In 1988 Michael was appointed a Partner and commenced a 3 year secondment as a specialist tax partner to the KPMG practice in Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea. In that role he provided specialist tax advice to both local companies and also to multi national groups in the mining, oil and construction industries. In June 1991 Michael returned to the Brisbane office of KPMG as a Partner in the Private Business Services division where he specialized in providing a full range of audit, tax and business advisory services to large private companies, large family groups and high net worth individuals. Included in the range of business advisory services are strategic and business planning, budgeting and cash flow management, succession planning and governance. In more recent years In 2000 Michael was appointed as the partner in charge of the Private Business Services division in Brisbane a position he held until 2010. In 2010 Michael was appointed National Chief Operating Officer of the KPMG Private Enterprise in Australia.Michael retired as a Partner in January 2014. While continuing at KPMG as a consultant to transition clients until September, 2015. Michael was also appointed to a number of Board and Advisory Boards. At the present time Michael’s portfolio of Board and Advisory Board roles include- - Everhard Industries Pty Ltd - Director and Audit Committee Chair. - Smithbridge Group/ Universal Cranes - Advisory Board Chair. - Willers Group / Newstead Properties- Director. - Palm Lake Resorts Group - Advisory Board Chair. - Palm Lake Care Group - Director & meeting Chair. Michael also acts as a Consultant and Business Advisor to a number of Family Offices in the Property , Retail and Hotel Industries.
