As a Public Policy Economist at the California Association of REALTORS® (CAR), I leverage my Master of Public Policy degree from the University of Chicago and my 4.5+ years of research and data strategy experience to inform and influence policy decisions that affect the housing market and the economy. I conduct economic impact analyses on a range of housing, economic, and tax issues for government affairs directors throughout California, utilizing large datasets and surveys to prepare findings in various formats, such as presentations, white papers, and reports. I also analyze the effects of changes in the housing market on consumers, policymakers, and economists, and provide insights and recommendations to support CAR's advocacy efforts. My passion is to use data and research to drive positive social change and improve the lives of people and communities. In my previous role as a Research and Data Strategy Associate at the Social IMPACT Research Center at Heartland Alliance, I designed, analyzed, and published in-depth research projects to improve anti-poverty policy, support innovation in program design, and drive strategic planning. I also managed an innovative, years-long initiative to measure the impact of supportive housing, and provided ongoing capacity-building and technical assistance to internal partners on data-informed decision making, research methodology, strategic planning, and continuous quality improvement. Some of the skills that I have developed and applied in my work include data analysis, analytical skills, written communication, data visualization, R Studio, survey design, focus group facilitation, and report writing. I am always eager to learn new tools and methods, and to collaborate with diverse and interdisciplinary teams. I am motivated by the opportunity to make a difference through my work, and to contribute to the advancement of evidence-based policy and practice.
