As a Ferrovial Site Engineer, I work as part of a team which sucessfully installed two temporary cofferdams on the the River Thames at the Albert Embankment. I also gained great experience within tunnelling and shaft sinking by working within the SCL team which successfully constructed a 114m SCL tunnel which connected the 2 cofferdams.

Quartermile Development, Edinburgh

I started work at the Quartermile development in June of this year as a summer student and I opted to continue with the company part time whilst completing my Masters Degree. As a Site Engineer I have been given the opportunity and responsibility to oversee some aspects of certain work on site. I deal directly with both sub-contractors and other engineers and these responsibilties generally concerns the quality, progress and acceptance of work that are completed onsite, whilst also undertaking a variety of engineering tasks.

Throughout University I have spent my summers on site working with Sir Robert McAlpine. During my time with the company I worked on a variety of complex and ambitious construction projects such as the Nisa & Velodrome in the city's east end as well as the School of Art and City College's Riverside Campus.During this time I developed an understanding and appreciation of what is needed and what it is like to be a Site Based Civil Engineer. Whilst there I have improved my Knowledge and Understanding whilst also gaining the necessary Confidence and Comunication Skills for any successfull Civil Engineer.
