About Michael Fleming

Michael Fleming is the Senior Director of Online Support and Academic Technology at Columbia University's School of Professional Studies and has worn many hats a cultural producer in the contemporary Art world. He has dedicated his career to developing fresh perspectives in both art and education.At Columbia University he manages a team of online support staff responsible for training, administration, and helpdesk support for the School's learning management system and core academic technologies. Prior to his current role, he worked as a Webinar Specialist and then Virtual Events Manager overseeing synchronous online classes for academic programs at the School of Continuing Education at Columbia University.Outside of his career in Academia, Fleming also has a rich background in the Arts. He is the Co-Founder of Selenas Mountain, a contemporary art gallery in Chelsea/Ridgewood, NY that he was involved with running until 2024. His previous gallery, MOUNTAIN, which he ran out of his Bushwick loft from 2016-2018 has been written about by Artnet News, Art F City, Brooklyn Magazine, and The New York Times. Fleming has held previous positions as Co-Producer/Curator of the IMPACT Performance Festival, Chicago, IL; Co-Director/Board Member of artist-run space OPENSOURCE Art, Champaign, IL; Gallery Assistant at Gladstone Gallery, NY and Rowley Kennerk Gallery, Chicago, IL. Fleming received his BFA in Painting from UIUC, his MFA in Studio from SAIC, and a Business Certificate from Columbia University. In his artistic practice Michael Fleming has made performance, video art, and sculpture with his collaborator (and identical twin brother) Alan Fleming from 2005-2015. Together, they have had residencies at the Oxbow School of Art, MI; ACRE Residency, WI; NARS Foundation, NY; and the AIM Program at the Bronx Museum, NY. They have exhibited and performed internationally, including shows in Denmark, Germany, Mexico, Scotland, and the Ukraine.
