I find myself drawn to re-imagining and re-shaping the possibilities of urban environments that sustainably serve the people who live in them. As a fourth generation Philadelphian my passions have led me to focus my career to help push for a more resilient, equitable greener Philly. In November of 2022 I was brought on board as a Program Manager for PHS to implement the Love Where You Live Greening Plan in Nicetown and Tioga. Here I’ve been able to use my leadership skills as a community organizer and collaborator while tying in my knowledge of urban horticulture. The neighborhood priorities within in the plan is to focus on Increasing Green Jobs, Reducing Crime, Increasing Access to Fresh and Healthy Food, and Reducing Trash and Litter. When I’m not working for PHS you’ll find me dedicating the rest of my time to serving as Co-Director for the grass-roots non-profit, Philadelphia City Repair Project. After interning for the City Repair Project in Portland, Oregon while earning my undergraduate degree, I was inspired to start a Philly branch back home. Our mission is to help build sustainable communities across Philadelphia that are designed and created by the people who live in them. Our approach to building resilient neighborhoods differs in that we don’t come into a community with the assumption that we know how to fix the issues the residents face. Rather we come in with a listening approach that empowers residents to lead the way. In our 6 years I’ve helped fundraise over $60,000 towards gardens and greenspaces across North and West Philadelphia.
