Mike Marcotte is one of the premier cybersecurity executives in the US and one of the world’s pre-eminent experts in space systems, cybersecurity, digital identity, and artificial intelligence technology. After joining in 2006, Mike was the Global CIO, CDO, and President (Hughes Cloud Services) of EchoStar, the multi-billion-dollar satellite communications giant. He was one of the first people to serve as Chief Digital Officer in a major international corporation. After taking EchoStar to the forefront of global telecommunications, Mike left in 2014 and has applied his expertise at various technology, space, cybersecurity, and venture capital firms. He is the founder, Chairman & CEO of digital ID pioneer artius.iD, innovation company Artius Global Group, and cybersecurity firm Praelium Systems. He is also a Vaga Venture Capital general partner, a Wormhole Labs board member, and a partner at New Republic Studios. Mike Marcotte's expertise and leadership extend beyond the corporate world. He is a respected figure in the public sector, holding several influential advisory positions. As a co-founder of the National Cybersecurity Center (NCC) and founder and chairman of the NCC’s Rapid Response Center Board, he has been instrumental in shaping national cybersecurity policies. His role as a senior advisor for several heads of state and US Senators underscores his influence and the trust placed in his expertise. He also served as a board member at the Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT), contributing to economic growth and international trade strategies. He is a two-time winner of NASA’s Engineering Excellence Award and the US Air Force Award of Engineering Excellence. He completed high school at the age of 12 and went on to study multidisciplinary areas. He is also an experienced pilot and aerobatics aviator.
