Current-Teaching fifth through eighth grade language arts, social studies, and science-Employing best practices, strong classroom management, and culturally-relevant pedagogy to promote intrinsic motivation and passion for students to become life-long learners-Differentiating instruction for Special Education and English Language Learners (RIT scores ranged from 175 to 242) to leading to incredible quantitative and qualitative results in the classroom-Fluent in Understanding by Design; creating incredible backwards design units with strong formative and summative assessments and cohesively embedded UbD elements rooted in CCSS and NGSS-Expert in argumentative writing; successfully teaching students how to create clear arguments and counterarguments using ThinkCERCA as well as self-made performance tasks utilizing multiple sources -Using data-driven instruction to have students succeed academically (72% of students meeting or exceeding MAP goals in 2015, with student gains exceeding 37 points above RIT goal; if ACCESS students would have been included with projected RIT scores the number becomes 76%)-Researching best practices to improve pedagogy -Receiving "distinguished except for one "proficient" for REACH observations and all "distinguished" for final REACH observation.-Writing education blog on best practices with posts on DePaul's Center for Urban Education and tweeted out by Doug Lemov, author of Teach Like A Champion
