Following the sudden departure of the company’s only developer, successfully asserted control over the many in-house applications and batch processes by performing code reviews and documenting processes.- Developed new and re-wrote existing applications using C# 2005 and 2008 replacing existing applications in VB6, Excel and Access.- Worked directly with the business users to gather requirements, understand business logic, produce specifications, develop code, perform UAT and regression tests, deliver and supply technical and user documentation.- Greatly improved client reporting by creating a SQL data warehouse and authoring ETL jobs to transfer data from an ageing binary database in SCO Unix, and producing robust reports in Crystal Reports 2008.- Authored robust new SQL Server stored procedures and views, and enhanced existing SQL objects through code optimisation and performance tuning.- Corrected bugs and added new functionality to existing in house applications using VB.Net 2005 and 2008, SQL Server 7, 2000, 2005 and SQL Server 2008.- Replicated data between SQL Servers using Microsoft SQL Server Replication.- Created the “Management Reporting Framework”, an extension to the underwriting system’s data warehouse. Consisting of over 40 SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) reports, supporting tables, and stored procedures, this provides a robust set of reports to underwriters, compliance, claims, and reinsurance users. - Developed a new suite of tools to comply with the new PMD report requirement from Lloyd’s. Consisting of SQL to generate the data and SSIS to export the data in the approved format, the suite also includes a C# application to review the data, and data exceptions. The suite also emails the underwriters daily, listing risks that require correction before being submitted to Lloyd’s.- Handled many smaller tasks involving ASP/ASP.net, VBScript, JavaScript, Perl, HTML, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop.
