After years of progressively more responsible sales and marketing positions in large companies I was ready to own and run a small distributor and grow it. In 2001 my business partner and I purchased a mature company in need of growth. With changes in compensation plans, strategy and recruitment of great people we have been able to dramatically increase sales and improve income. My partner retired in 2014 and I have continued in my role as President & CEO. In 2018 we developed a plan to act as our own "in house" private equity firm, and have been making strategic investments in the company each year including acquisition of 3 companies (for a total of 15 over the past 22 years), expansion of our value-add offerings for customers, a new ERP system, hiring of a senior leadership team, the launch of a new eCommerce site (CentroMROsupply.com) and major investments in our 9 facilities. Over 23 years, Centro has become the market share leader in our geography on both MRO and Engineered products in the geography served by our company.Specialties: Senior Leader with General Management and Sales/Marketing skills. In 2012 Centro was selected as the Small Business of the Year in the less than 50 employee category. Centro has been on the List of the Top 100 Privately Held Companies in the Memphis Business Journal since 2013. In 2015 Centro was honored by the Memphis Business Journal with the Pacesetter Award as one of the fastest growing private companies in Memphis for the period of 2012 through 2014. In 2016 as president of Centro I was selected by the Memphis Business Journal as Executive of the Year. From 2020 through 2022, I restructured the leadership team at Centro to create a senior staff to lead the major operational functions of sales, marketing, customer service, inventory, pricing, IT, finance and eCommerce. In May of 2023, Centro was once again a finalist for the Memphis Business Journal small business of the year in the Large category. We were also honored by the Memphis Business Journal with a Fastest Growing Companies Award. In 2024, our CFO Jay Wiley was selected by the Memphis Business Journal as one of four finalists for the CFO of the Year Award. -
