Responsible for managing and leading 60-80 crew chiefs in the Aircraft Section 27 assigned aircraft valued at $1.1B. Coordinated with production supers and section leads to meet daily flying, contingency and mobility requirements. Ensures Aircraft inspection requirement completion to include inspections and calendar inspections. The section is the primary work center responsible for maintaining assigned aircraft. Also, performs tasks to include servicing, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, pre-flights, thru-flights, basic post-flights, home station checks, special inspections, corrosion control, cleaning, ground handling, launch and recovery of aircraft, troubleshooting and adjustment, on-equipment repairs and component removal and replacement, documents maintenance actions, and manages aircraft forms. The aircraft section consists of aircraft technicians, dedicated crew chiefs (DCCs).

Uses aircraft data to project future maintenance events that will impact aircraft operations. Performs debriefing, scheduling, inspection tracking, coordination of outside support, assists in signing the aircraft exceptional release. Modifies, revises, and provides economic analysis of schedule plans. Coordinates with Maintenance & Logistics Support Manager on schedules, aircraft status and issues as they occur. Provide On-The Job training to personnel as it pertains to Maintenance. Validates work schedules and assigns tasks. Works with maintenance supervision to ensure maintenance actions are completed on time. Maintains accurate aircraft status boards and performs other duties as directed by the Manager. . Monitors the maintenance activities of assigned personnel. Coordinates maintenance efforts with Maintenance Operations Center (MOC) to ensure timely return of aircraft to mission capable status. Ensures that assigned personnel have access to and use adequate technical data during all phases of aircraft maintenance. Provided quality, on-time maintenance, repairs and inspections that ensured no interruption to the daily project schedule. Directs maintenance tasks and provides training, oversight, and guidance to assigned personnel in the maintenance of aircraft. Monitors the maintenance activities of assigned personnel. Ensures personnel are trained and practice good housekeeping, tool control, supply discipline, FOD awareness/prevention, proper disposal of materials, and safety at all times. Reviews aircraft records for accuracy and completeness. In coordination with the production supervisor and the training instructor, provides training to employees. Assists assigned personnel in researching and requisitioning aircraft parts and components and in determining reparability and serviceability. Ensures ground safety measures are observed in refueling, oxygen servicing, and starting and taxing of aircraft, where applicable.
