My role is to engage the membership with key services and develop them alongside the changing needs of students.I am responsible for services that include:• The advice centre dealing with academic, housing, debt, employment and immigration areas of law• The mentor scheme that provides peer to peer support for students and a 24 hour on-call wellbeing service to students living in university accommodation• A profit-making letting agency providing student-friendly landlords and value for money properties with no fees charged to students • Community wardens who operate within the local area to provide a positive perception of students and bring the community together through green and personal safety initiatives and events to harmonise community relations• Community volunteering where over 3000 students give their time to serving the local population through befriending, environmental initiatives and leading children’s activities and holidays• A job-shop service offering part time work opportunities for 2000 students enabling them to earn £2m to supplement their studies
