I conducted research studying amyloid-beta accumulation in a mouse model of Alzheimer's disease. My tasks include genotyping the Alzheimer's model mice, perfusion-fixation of mice, tissue dissection, agarose embedding, vibratome sectioning, immunofluorescence immunohistochemistry (IHC), confocal and epifluorescence microscopy, and image analysis with ImageJ. I also performed extensive troubleshooting and optimization of these tasks.

I conducted research studying the three dimensional architecture of the renal medulla. My responsibilities included embedding mammalian kidneys in paraffin, sectioning the paraffin section on a microtome, mounting the sections onto glass slides, performing quadruple-labeling immunohistochemistry (IHC) on the kidney sections, and imaging the sections using epifluorescence microscopy.

Interned for two summers spanning from May 2017 to August 2017 and May 2018 to August 2018 through a joint program with Undergraduate Biology Research Program (UBRP) and the Barrow Neurological Institute. I engineered DNA coding for fluorescently labeled nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs). I then assisted with transfecting cells with these DNA constructs. I also assisted with other projects involving microinjections and electrophysiological recordings.
