About Michael Gfroerer
30 years teaching experience resulting in two successful books. (See my YouTube Channel https://www.youtube.com/user/MrMikeyjg/about 30 years experience performing. Graduate of the Western Ontario Conservatory of Music-now part of Conservatory Canada. Studied Music, Psychology and French at York University. Studied composition with one of Canada's best-known composers, Linda C. Smith. Received the Orfeo Musica Award for International Cooperation from the Stockholm organization the ILGCN. Founder and former Co-Artistic Director of CONTACT contemporary music 1998-2006, which specialized in contemporary Canadian music (Ann Southam, Rodney Sharman, Marc Rabe, Barry Truax, and Wende Bartley, as well as international composers David Lang, Arvo Part, Christian Wolff, Philip Glass, Terry Rileyand many others. I have received commissions by CONTACT, Soundstreams, The University Settlement Music and Arts School and several patrons. My music has been described as "...highly entertaining..." by the Globe and Mail.
