I am a volunteer who helped start Southampton pride back in 2016; putting the first ever event together in just 10 weeks. As a successful annual festival, I am now responsible for all stall holders and making sure risk assessments, public and liability insurance is up to date and booking people in.

The coffee lounge is a new venture for the sailors society, I was hired to set up the day to day running of the business. I've put policy and procedures in place to ensure that all aspect of the business run smoothly. I've set up and selected the menu for both food and drink also setting the prices for all products, ensuring there is a good mark up on the margin. To ensure the coffee lounge wasn't over pricing itself, I completed in depth market research by comparing prices with other local and branded coffee shops. I was given the task to set up the till system that isn't suitable for a catering environment as it was originally used amongst the charity shops, however I managed to utilise it and have it running efficiently.I also run our mobile coffee unit, booking it in for events to build the By Sea brand and marketing our own brand of coffee and also the coffee lounge. I have achieved a 5 star food hygiene rating for the coffee lounge, I have achieved this by hiring and training all of the staff to the same high standards of how I would want my own business to be run.

During my time at SSP I have gained several new transferable skills that would enable to adapt to any business. Successful execute any goals or target that have been set. Decadance is a monthly club night held in Cardiff at Club X. The brand experienced significant growth as a result of my targeted marketing campaigns and is now holding outdoor events, in addition to being approached to hold monthly events in a number of other cities across the UK. My involvement with Decadance was to ensure that effective marketing was in place in the build-up to events, which I achieved through the development and implementation of a rolling six month marketing plan.

I was responsible for overseeing all aspects of the popular branded unit. Within my role I led the team of staff members whilst taking a hand on approach toward a variety of duties to ensure the highest standards of service and quality were achieved at all times. My duties as Store Manager included: • Overseeing the recruitment, training, development and motivation of all staff members• Compiling rotas and time sheets in line with budgets and expenditure• Overseeing the control of cost and managing weekly forecasts• Undertaking daily banking duties• Undertaking staff assessments and performance reviews• Stock ordering and purchasing• Ensuring all standards in customer care and service are maintained to increase customer satisfaction• Ensuring all staff have excellent product knowledge to maximise sales• Maintaining brand standards throughout the unitDuring my employment with Cost Coffee I was able to further my branded catering experience whilst developing my skills with a new environment.

As General Manager of the Lymington unit, we sat around 100 covers and I had 15 staff members on service. I was responsible for ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of this standards driven branded restaurant. I was heavily focused on controlling costs within this role, and I did this by effectively managing stock and optimising staff levels to minimise labour costs.

During my lengthy employment with TGI Fridays I was able to successfully develop strong financial, managerial and leadership skills whilst gaining a strong understanding of a branded restaurant industry. I thoroughly enjoyed my time within this role and the various development opportunities presented to me by the company allowed me to develop into a strong competent manager.
