Took managed leave of absence to care for elderly parent facing Alzheimer’s/dementia issues.

Built an accounting/finance team, developed and implemented business systems and processes, and created budgets and financial projections. Implemented Sage 300 software for the purpose of tracking job budget adherence, vendor contract compliance, and job buyout status. Researched, identified, and implemented IBSWIN Pharaoh software for data management of over 1,500 individual upgrade options. Implementation included web portal for buyers to review and select options online. Created standardized job budgeting methodology to track and ensure compliance with development proformas.

Led financial operations, upgraded business systems, and developed state-of-the-art financial reporting, planning and analysis processes, charged with opening new corporate office in Ohio. Created new standards for financial reporting, key performance metrics, and data-driven financial projections and analysis for 50+ separate legal entities. Delivered significant savings and an additional $1M+ in annual revenue through strong treasury management relationship. Transitioned risk management to self-insured retention model with creation of an internally owned, captive structure. Chaired Investment Committee for 401(k) retirement plan and 409A nonqualified deferred compensation plan.

Oversaw and standardized reporting and operational protocols across multiple regions and product types. Maintained full oversight of financial, reporting, cash management, tax compliance, planning, budgeting, and forecasting. Realized additional revenue through maximization and automation of annual tenant expense reconciliation methodology and improved lease administration.

Oversaw accounting, reporting, and tax compliance for business and certain financial aspects of principals’ personal financial and insurance matters. Directed real estate tax appeals and ensured compliance with tax incentive agreements and historical rehabilitation tax credits. Coordinated disposition of assets and acquisitions of §1033 replacement property. Garnered depreciation expense through creation of cost segregation analysis of construction projects.

VICE PRESIDENT - ASSET MANAGEMENT, 2001 – 2003CONTROLLER, 1994 – 2001Accountable for annual operating budgets, long-range business plans, and audits of 70+ separate entities. Managed GAAP compliance and issues related to the consolidation and elimination of intercompany activities, fee recognition, and cost capitalization. Directed review of all due diligence items, property inspections, and historical and operational data to institutional buyers for the sale of portfolio assets totaling more than $250M. Managed transition to third-party fee manager. Resolved all GAAP compliance and internal accounting issues during entity restructuring involving new majority institutional investor including restatement of the balance sheet for first year audit, profit/cash flow allocation, and implementation of new investor reporting requirements.
