E-business & Application Infrastructure - Project management / direct support for Blue Cross Blue Shield’s e-business and application infrastructure. My responsibilities were to design and create enterprise system infrastructure for new application and suggest changes to existing systems (purchased, in-house development and e-business). This included working with business customers, product vendors, and development teams and different IT groups to select the technology to best meet those requirements while looking for cost savings thru consultation of the infrastructure and improve system availability.

Windows Server Application Support - Install and document setup procedures for 5 new internal enterprise applications. These systems were (NT 4.0 / Win 2000) clustered server running SQL 7.0 and IIS connected to an EMC storage unit.

Project Manager - Project manager to setup and manage the Kraft Foods operation lab servers (MS SQL / IIS /Exchange). Packaging and Builds – Create or repackage their Win95/NT application for their yearly rollout.Windows Server Application Support – Created procedures and build process for Kraft Foods operation server rollout to 80 sites. Server setup and programming of a new application distribution web server to allow the clients to perform automated application installs by selecting the application thru their web browser.

Microsoft NT 4.0 Server – Technical lead to design and install DB2 database & application NT Servers, OCR processing & mainframe data transfer & data verification workstations to support Blue Cross & Blue Shield’s claim imaging systems. This includes interfacing the systems with their current Novell / OS/2 environment, migrate the OS/2 applications to NT servers, training their current staff on NT, Y2K project testing, documentation of their new NT systems, packaging the claim image processing application and support of their current OS2 Claim systems.Develop a proof of concept of the claim image system on an NT server-clustering environment & a hardware/software implementation of Raid 10. This identified the application changes that would have to be made to run the system in the new environment.

Project lead of up to 9 people to install NT Servers & workstations in the Commercial lines and Branch Claim field offices. The office sizes range from 10 to 200 workstations and laptops. Responsibilities include building and / or upgrading the NT servers and migrate the OS2 server applications and data to the new NT servers. Install Cisco Router / hubs, managing outside contractors. Providing server and client/server application support to the application development teams. Also responsible for the project planning, budgeting and coordination with the business areas for the field offices installs. Created nightly server batch programs and automated build processes and managed application packaging / distribution of up to 3500 workstations and 50 servers in 29 remote offices.O/S 2 Installation Specialist Project Lead - Dec. ‘92 to Dec. ‘95Lead team of six installation specialists to install OS/2 LAN's in 17 Commercial Lines field offices. Office range from 25 to 120 OS/2 2.0 workstations in 16 locations. Responsibilities included building Files / Print Servers, SNA Gateway and Lotus Notes Servers, phone support of the install offices, while also coordinating tasks and training of the team members. Upon completion of the installation, provided support for OS/2 Warp Server and LAN Server 4.0 in the Home and Commercial Lines field offices. The office sizes ranged from 50 to 1500 workstations at 25 locations. Responsibilities included budgeting, capacity planning, work distribution, upgrading and performance tuning of servers, creating SNA gateways, creating automated application & server install procedures. Technical support of Kemper's client/server applications.OS/2 Installation Specialist, Jan ‘92 through Dec. ‘92Installation and support of five pilot OS/2 LAN Commercial Lines offices. Responsibilities included building workstations, files / print servers, SNA Gateways and Lotus Notes Servers.
